SMS & phone number consent

How DDD (ddd-valet.vercel.app) collects phone numbers and obtains consent to send SMS, in line with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). This page documents the live opt-in flow of the service.

What messages we send

DDD sends transactional SMS only: one-time sign-in codes (OTPs) for customers, one-time verification codes for valet applicants, and, if a trip's bill is still unpaid 2 minutes after the trip ends, one reminder with its payment link (by SMS only where WhatsApp cannot reach the customer). Codes are sent only when the user themselves requests one by taking an action in the app, and a reminder only for a trip they booked. We send no marketing or promotional SMS. Typical frequency: one message per sign-in or application, and at most one reminder per unpaid trip.

How opt-in is collected: customers

The customer opt-in is user-initiated on the sign-in screen of the DDD app. The customer types their own Singapore mobile number and taps "Text me a code". Directly beneath that button, before any code is sent, the following notice is displayed:

"By continuing you consent to DDD collecting and using your number and trip details to run your bookings, in line with Singapore's PDPA. See our Privacy Policy."

Tapping "Text me a code" after this notice constitutes consent to receive the sign-in SMS. Possession of the phone is then proven by entering the 6-digit code, so a number can only be registered by the person holding it.

How opt-in is collected: valet applicants

Valet applicants apply in the DDD Driver app. They enter their own mobile number in the application form and tap "Verify my number". Directly beneath that button, before any code is sent, the following notice is displayed:

"By continuing you consent to DDD sending a one-time verification SMS to this number and using your details, including those from Myinfo, to process your application, per Singapore's PDPA. See our SMS consent policy and Privacy Policy."

A verification SMS is sent, and the application is only accepted once the applicant proves possession of the number by entering the code.

Withdrawing consent / opt-out

Because every SMS is user-initiated, simply not requesting a code means no further messages are sent; numbers are never messaged unprompted. To withdraw consent entirely, customers can use "Delete my account" on the app's Account tab (profile anonymised, identifying details scrubbed), or contact our DPO at dpo@ddd.sg / hotline 6100 0000. Requests are honoured within 30 days as required by the PDPA.

Data handling

Phone numbers are used solely for sign-in, verification and running bookings. They are never sold, shared for advertising, or shown to valets (calls relay through our hotline). Full details in the Privacy Policy.
